Welcome to this little corner of the community and our very first tech talk. Here we will talk briefly about different tools I like to use to make the workday easier.
We will get this started with a tech shoutout to slack. Slack is a messaging tool that helps our team communicate easily and quickly all day long. I think you will find it just as easy and fun to use. Yes, I said fun. Slack is not only a messaging tool, but it uses channels to help facilitate these messages. How does that equate to fun you may be asking? Well, let me tell you. You can create all kinds of different channels on slack including ones dedicated to such things as cat memes, or “punny” jokes. You can send any meme you find through that channel and everyone on your team will see it. Then voila, you have brought a smile to everyone.

One of the things I like the most about messaging with slack is that you can send gifs. If you are not familiar with gifs you are in for a treat. Gifs are basically memes with movement. They are animated images that sometimes combine several images and sometimes uses one image with graphics. You can send these, both through channels and to individuals on your team. Can’t find the right words to answer your coworker? No problem, find that perfect gif and send it. Whether you pronounce it with a hard g or a soft, this is such a fun way to keep communication through the day.

It has been said that happy workers are productive workers. Slack embodies all of that. It is a great way to send information to everyone at once or to ask questions one on one. All of this will help keep your employees and you happy and productive.
I think you can see why I enjoy this little tech tool so much. There is one more thing that I really like about it. You can create your own emojis. But that is a talk for another time. Check back in the next issue to see all about how you too can create and use your own emojis on slack.
Until next time, tech on.
